How to Use SparX Crypto Wallet for Accounts in Hamster Network and TON

Apr 29

To interact with the Hamster Network, any user needs to obtain a dedicated blockchain address. To date, one (and the only) convenient solution is SparX crypto wallet, which allows you to manage assets across multiple TVM-compatible blockchains. This guide equips you with a step-by-step instruction on how to create a new Hamster Network address using the SparX wallet, as well as how to import an existing seed and accounts from another TON wallet. Finally, we will show you how to transfer your cryptocurrency from Hamster Network to TON.

What is SparX?

SparX is a non-custodial crypto wallet developed by Broxus, designed to provide users with complete control over their digital assets across various blockchains that use TVM (TON Virtual Machine), similar to how many networks use Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

SparX ensures privacy and security by allowing only the user to access their wallet, as no personal data is collected. The wallet supports multiple blockchain networks, including TON, and the Hamster Network, enabling users to manage their assets seamlessly across these platforms.

Steps to Create a Hamster Network Address With SparX

1. Download the Wallet

Start by downloading the SparX wallet. It is available on multiple platforms:

  • iOS devices: download from the App Store.
  • Android devices: download from Google Play.
  • Chrome extension, which is especially handy for desktop users and connections to decentralized apps (dApps).

2. Create a New Seed Phrase and Set Up a Password

Upon launching SparX, you can either import an existing seed phrase or create a new one. A seed phrase is a unique 12-word sequence that grants access to all associated blockchain addresses. It is essential to keep this phrase confidential and secure, as it is the key to your assets.

During the seed creation process, you will be also prompted to set up a password, which adds an extra layer of security and is required for confirming outgoing transactions. Optionally, you can enable biometrics authentication, e.g. via fingerprint scan on your mobile device.

3. Add a New Account

After setting up your seed phrase and password, you can consider your account with the individual blockchain address in Hamster Network to be ready for use.

However, you can create additional accounts under a single seed phrase, enabling efficient management of various addresses within the wallet. Each account is assigned a unique blockchain address.

4. Using Your Hamster Network Address

Once you’ve switched to the Hamster Network, you can check your blockchain address on the main screen. Click or tap on it to copy the full address. You can also see the address by clicking on the button “Receive”.

By tapping on the “Info” button next to those for receiving and sending operations, you can access additional settings, such as the option to rename the account, view the full blockchain address, access the public key, and find a link to view your address on Hamsterscan, the Hamster Network’s blockchain explorer.

Importing a TON Seed to the SparX Wallet

Instead of creating a new seed and accounts in SparX, you can consider SparX as an alternative to existing TON wallets, because it supports multiple TVM networks. Transferring your account to SparX is simple and will take just a couple of minutes.

First, you need to find a seed—either a 12- or 24-word phrase—from the account you want to transfer. If you don’t have it written down, you can check the phrase in the settings. For instance, in Tonkeeper, a seed phrase is stored under the “Security” setting, in the “Backup” option.

After you copied the phrase, open the list of accounts in SparX, click the button “Add new seed”. On the next screen, enter a new name for your seed, and select an option to import either 12- or 24-word phrase from the dropdown menu:

Click the button “Next”, and paste a seed phrase you copied. No need to enter every word in a separate field—SparX will process the entire phrase at once. Make sure the default option,  “TON types wallet,” is chosen at the bottom of the screen. Assign a new password, and you’ll be prompted to a new screen confirming the operation went successfully:

To finish the configuration of your wallet, click the button “Switch to this seed phrase”. Because SparX works in different TVM blockchains, having an account in one network, you also get addresses in all the other networks available in SparX.

How to Transfer HMSTR from Hamster Network to TON

If you have Toncoin or HMSTR in Hamster Network that you want to transfer to the TON blockchain, you will need a cross-chain protocol ChainConnect, a Hamster Network address in your SparX wallet, and any other popular TON wallet, e.g. Tonkeeper or MyTonWallet.

We will tell you how to do it using the example of transferring TON coin from Hamster Network to TON. Firstly, go to the ChainConnect website. In the swap window, select the Hamster Network in the “From” field, and connect your SparX account, from where you want to transfer crypto from. Then, pick TON in the “To” field, and either connect one of the supported wallets you want to receive TON to, or just paste the address. Enter the amount you want to transfer, and ChainConnect will calculate all the fees. After that, you should see the total amount you will pay, as on the screenshot below:

Confirm the operation, and the bridge will initiate a cross-chain transfer, for which you will see a pop-up window in the right bottom corner, which will also contain links to the transaction in the Hamsterscan (Hamster Network’s blockchain explorer), and to the page in ChainConnect that will show you progress in real time. After all the stages of the transaction will be complete, you will see a corresponding message on the transfer’s page:

This will conclude the path of transferring your TON cryptocurrency from Hamster Network to the TON network.

Always Remember about Security

SparX is a non-custodial crypto wallet, meaning it gives you full control over your digital assets, but at the same time the full responsibility for your funds also falls on you. The most important security rule is to never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone. These credentials grant full access to your funds, and sharing them can lead to unauthorized access.
